Trapped in “hotel convention”, 2004, video, 3 min.

The work consists of different takes of the corridors of a hotel, which are presented simultaneously.
The corridors are both intricate and identical thus enhancing the claustrophobic feeling generated by this particular space.
The work borrows from the aesthetics of surveillance monitors, divided as they usually are in equal parts, the only difference being that the views provided by static cameras placed at various points in the building have been replaced by what an individual sees when moving within it.
In terms of the work, a hotel’s conventional use is negated and the hotel itself is turned from a temporary, transitional space into a labyrinth that affords no escape route and no way out.
